What the platform gives the administrator and the lead tech, and what has shipped lately. The tracks, simulators, course builder and compliance records are on the home page.

For practice leaders

See who is ready, not just who logged in

The platform that teaches the technician gives the administrator and the lead tech a working view of the whole team, across every location.

Readiness and reporting

Who to register this quarter

An exam readiness forecast lists every COA, COT and COMT learner with their mastery, best timed practice exam and weakest areas, and an estimated date they reach the ready line when the data supports one. Record real exam results and see how the forecast held up.

Practice, and proof

Supervisors see each learner's simulator and tool runs, passes and when they last practiced. Coached runs sit in their own column and do not count toward readiness, so practicing and passing alone are never confused.

Down to the question

Open any learner and see each question they answered, what they chose and what was right. Administrators get item analysis across the whole organization.

Time to lane-ready

Each new hire's start date, the milestones your practice sets before they work a lane alone, and a supervisor's signed clearance. See who is behind your target, check off your own milestones, and how long clearance takes for each month's hires.

Analytics for leadership

An executive summary, a benchmark across locations, a single-location view, a printable board report, and a one-page quarterly summary for an owner: training value beside what the platform cost, new hires cleared, verified exam results, incidents and compliance.

Supervision

Competency sign-off

Supervisors verify skills against your own competency list on a 0 to 4 scale, and nobody signs off their own. Learners see where they stand, practice on the matching simulator, and are told when a request is answered.

Observed at the chair

Sign off a skill while watching it: each step is one tap for Done, Missed or N/A, with a timer and a note. Six workflow steps come built in, and you add the clinical steps from your own protocols.

What needs you, first

A Needs attention card puts sign-off requests, overdue re-verifications, overdue work and learners who have gone quiet at the top of the Control Panel, with a reminder or reply one click away.

Assignments and compliance

Assignments with due dates

Assign a track, a module or a simulator to one person, or to several people or whole locations at once. Overdue work escalates on its own, from supervisor up, and reminders arrive by email or as a notification on a phone or computer.

Work on day one

A new hire gets starter work for their job role the moment their account is made: technicians, front desk and scribes each have a template, due 60 days from their start date. Change your own copy, switch one off, or give it to staff who already work for you.

Annual compliance training

Fifteen courses, including HIPAA, OSHA, bloodborne pathogens, fire safety and TB, and any your organization writes itself. Each is a video that cannot be skipped and then a quiz that opens only once it has been watched. Assign them to people or whole locations in one step; a pass is good for a year, and supervisors see who is current, due for renewal and overdue.

Licenses and credentials

Every certification, license and registration your people hold: technicians and medical assistants, nurses (RN, APRN, CNOR, CPAN, CAPA), nurse anesthetists, physicians (state license, DEA and state controlled substance registrations, board certification), physician assistants, optometrists and surgical technologists, plus clinical privileges, malpractice cover and health and safety records such as TB screening and the respirator fit test. The holder is reminded from 180 days out and supervisors and administrators as the date nears, and somebody other than the holder verifies each one against the document.

Facility licenses

What each location holds: its CLIA certificate, surgical facility license, accreditation, Medicare enrollment revalidation, DEA and pharmacy registrations, fire inspection and insurance, with a PDF copy of the certificate on file. Administrators are reminded from 180 days before it expires and a location's supervisors from 90, until it is renewed.

Vendors, BAAs and contracts

Keep every vendor and contracted provider in one register, with the signed BAAs, provider agreements and service contracts behind it. Each vendor that sees patient information shows whether a signed BAA is on file, auto-renewing contracts are tracked by their notice deadline, administrators are emailed before a date passes, and ended contracts are kept for six years.

Inspection readiness

A checklist for each inspection an eye clinic or surgery center can expect, from Medicare surveys to OSHA, HIPAA, the DEA, the fire marshal and health plans. Each line names the rule it comes from. Print one for a walk-through, or work it on screen for each location and sign it off as a dated record, with anything not met kept on a follow-up list.

Your organization

Roles and competencies your way

Each department gets its own competency list, and each person sees only the tracks, simulators and tools assigned to their role.

Your name on it

Your organization's name, tagline and logo in the app and on your own sign-in page, with your labels for each track.

Sign-in your way

Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on, or passwords with two-step codes.

An audit trail

Every administrative action is logged with who did it and from where.

Improved every week

Built in small, tested steps

The platform ships several times a week. Every release runs the full test suite before it goes out, then checks every program file on the live server against what was built, and refuses to finish if one differs.

550+releases since August 2026
280+automated test files every release must pass: exam weights, answer keys, spelling, diagrams, security headers and the simulators themselves
  1. Credentials for every role, and facility licenses

Credential tracking now covers physicians, nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, optometrists, perioperative nurses and surgical technologists, with their DEA registrations, board certifications, clinical privileges and malpractice cover, and health and safety records such as TB screening and the respirator fit test. A new Facility licenses view keeps each location's CLIA certificate, facility license, accreditation and permits, with a PDF copy and reminders before each expires. The completion record and signature ledger downloads now sit in the Compliance page's header.

  2. Refraction the way it is taught

The refraction simulator now follows how subjective refraction is taught in published optometry and ophthalmology courses. Patients focus through minus they do not need, read the chart when asked, and sometimes answer like real people, with habits to catch. The fog has to be seen to work, small cylinders are searched for, the balance splits the eyes with prism or a cover, the near add is set where the patient actually reads, and the debrief no longer marks down correct technique that the old rules did not allow.

  3. Skills videos of our own

Seventeen narrated skills videos, made by the platform from its own lessons and diagrams, now play in the Video Library: history taking, visual acuity, children, color and stereo, fields, pupils, the external exam, tonometry, pachymetry, keratometry, the slit lamp, motility, lensometry, refraction, eye drops and sterile technique. Each is captioned, and watching counts once 90% has been played.

  4. Every tool is scored like a simulator

The Astigmatism, EOM and Patient Vision tools each end in a scored check of five questions, worked out from the same models the pictures are drawn from. An assigned tool now counts as done only on a pass, and a refresh mid-check picks up where it left off. The Astigmatism tool also shows what glasses made with the axis off do, and a real road at night.

  5. Patient Vision through real optics

The Patient Vision tool's scenes are now rendered through modeled eyes, so a label in the hand and a window across the room blur differently, the way they do for myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, astigmatism or a cataract. Field loss and color vision are drawn to scale, as the washed-out patches patients describe rather than black holes.

  6. Retinoscopy in a rendered eye

The retinoscope's view is now a rendered eye seen through the peephole, with the streak sweeping across the face and the reflex moving with or against it in the pupil. A key under the controls explains what to compare and which lens to add.

  1. Time to lane-ready

Each new hire now has a start date and a path to working a lane alone: assigned training finished, required competencies signed off, any milestones your practice adds, and a supervisor's signed clearance. A New hires view shows who is on track and who is behind your target, and how many days clearance has taken for each month's hires.

  2. A Bausch & Lomb keratometer

Manual keratometry is now the one-position Bausch & Lomb instrument, seen down a real eyepiece: level the plus signs, superimpose them, superimpose the minus signs, and read both meridians in one lock.

  3. My missed questions

Every question a learner gets wrong in practice or a timed exam goes into a review deck, and leaves it after two right answers on two different days. Reviewing never counts toward scores or readiness.

  4. Faster to open

Each simulator now loads when it is opened instead of with the app, so the dashboard appears sooner, most noticeably on an older clinic computer or a phone.

  5. An accessibility review

A WCAG 2.1 AA review of the study app, the Control Panel, the sign-in page and this website, with keyboard and screen reader fixes, and a written accessibility statement for any health system that asks for one.

  6. Write your own compliance courses

Compliance is now assigned in one place, to people or whole locations at once, and study work can be assigned to whole locations too. A content manager can write the organization's own courses beside our fifteen, with the same rules: a video that cannot be skipped, then a quiz, 80% to pass, renewed every year. The content editor is also faster and warns before unsaved work is lost.

  7. Annual compliance training

Fifteen compliance courses, from HIPAA and OSHA to bloodborne pathogens, fire safety and TB, each a video and then a quiz. The video cannot be skipped and pauses when the window is hidden, the quiz opens only once it has been watched, and a pass at 80% is good for a year. Supervisors see who is current, due and overdue.

  8. A new phoropter

The refraction simulator has a redrawn head modeled on a real one: sphere dials set into the sides, the cylinder knob in the middle of the axis scale, a cross cylinder that flips by its knobs and turns between axis and power, working Risley prisms with an optional phoria check, and near work that converges the head.

  9. Sized to the window, phone to 4K

The study app, the Control Panel and this website now scale with the window instead of jumping between a few fixed layouts. Simulators were reworked for laptop windows, and on a large monitor the instruments grow to use the space.

  10. Practice exams open full screen

A timed practice exam now opens full screen and records how many times, and for how long, the learner left the exam window. The result says so, and supervisors see it beside the score.

  11. A new look, in seven themes

Dark glass cards on a charcoal grid, now on the app, the Control Panel, the sign-in page and this website. Learners choose from seven themes, including high-contrast and colorblind versions, and three accent colors.

  12. The open app knows when there is a new release

An app left open for days now notices a new release and offers to reload, after saving progress. It never reloads by itself, so it cannot interrupt a timed exam.

  13. Real exam results beside the forecast

Supervisors can record how a learner did on the real COA, COT or COMT exam. The platform keeps what it was forecasting at that moment, and a Predicted vs actual card shows how each forecast group did.

  14. Chairside checklists and a readiness forecast

Supervisors can sign off a skill step by step while watching it at the chair. An exam readiness tab shows who to register this quarter, and questions that misbehave are flagged for review automatically.
